  1. Re “…needs killing…”; my wife is a Yankee by birth, and some of our Southern locutions and mores struck her as, um, ODD during our early days together. Now she’s a professor of religious ethics, and often tells her classes that where I come from there are 3 general categories of adverse judgment on people: those who need whuppin’, those who need killin’, and those who are not worth killin’….
